Every conference weekend, during the priesthood session we have a fun tradition. All the girls in my family go to my parents house while the boys go to the session with my dad. We try to do something productive, usually. This time, I started painting halloween decorations that I bought like two years ago. Anyway, after the guys get back, we all have banana splits and just visit. It is so fun and I always look forward to it. Thanks, Mom, for always letting us come trash your house (and then clean it up as good as we can before we leave). What traditions do you have that you look forward to?

I absolutely love traditions and I could write pages about them! I love the banana splits after priesthood, that's a great idea. I was trying to think of one to share that might be original or different. One thing we just started this year is having a back-to-school fairy come the night before school and leave surprises (school supplies and a small treat) in backpacks. I also try to make soup for the first day of fall. We have cake for birthdays of close family members that have passed on (our first daughter and my dad mostly) and well, I really could go on and on. Traditions are such an important part of life, especially for children. Thanks for sharing!
For Halloween we go trick or treating early and then I always have soup in the crockpot so we can come home to something warm. Then we pile up the candy and get our Pj's on and watch "Hocus Pocus". Mark won't let us watch it any other day of the year. We look forward to it. It's pretty special you have so much family around to enjoy.
oops that was Jamie on the last comment. I didn't notice carly's email account was up. The perils of sharing your computer with a teenage daughter.
We do a similar thing for the priesthood session with the girls in my family. I look forward to a million traditions too, especially the ones we have started with my own little family. Like celebrating Birthdays, Birthday Eves and Birthday Adams. (Adam came before Eve, get it!?) It is silly, but I love it!
Our girls love their Birthday dates with Dad, sleeping in the family room and watching movies on Friday nights, and of course Christmas Eve jammies. Another favorite at our house is the 12 days before vacation. They get little things we would have gotten for vacation anyway(treats, games for the plane ride, new flip flops, etc.). It just makes it more fun to look forward to the suprise each day.
We have some traditional traditions, but I really have liked reading these comments for fun and original ideas. I LOVE the priesthood meeting also. I also get together with my mom and sisters and the kids. We all have fun talking about what the meeting was about when the guys come home.
P.S. That is so cute about Brinton putting those "guys" to bed. While everyone is laughing inside, he is so sincere, sweet, and honest. He probably really LOVES those "guys."
My husband leaves for 2 hours and I get the house to myself. ;)
Cute pictures on Jessee's blog!
