I can hardly believe that Brinton is already two! His birthday was just yesterday, the 22nd. It's so crazy how quickly time flies.I remember his first birthday like it was just yesterday and he basically shoved his whole face into his cake. Now, he won't even eat cake or almost any bread-type food. He is definitely getting a little more defiant, which can only be expected. Even still, he is a lot of fun. I have been training him for a couple weeks to say "two" when we ask how old he is. He even tries to do the hand gestures sometimes (like in the picture to above . . . yes, that means two). 
Grandpa and Nana Bishop and Grandpa Bodell were able to make it over and it was really nice for Brinton. He opened some more fabulous presents and played for a bit. Then, we had brownies, cupcakes, and ice cream. I already mentioned that he won't eat cake, but sometimes he will eat brownies, so I gave that a whirl. No such luck. He didn't care for the dessert, but he did a great job blowing out the candles. He actually blew them out on his own and clapped after. He got to bed late because he was so excited about everything. All in all, I think it was a huge success.
For his birthday, I had him invite two of his friends, Thayne and Jackson, over to play. I wasn't originally going to do anything like a party because well, he's just two. However, he really loves to have friends come over, so I figured it would be fun for him. Turns out that he and his friends had such a blast. Steve and I got Brinton a little blow-up bounce house that we had him open right as his friends arrived. They had a lot of fun jumping, climbing through holes, and throwing balls around. 
After they played for about a half hour, they did some finger painting. Thanks, Steve for the awesome shirts to keep their clothes clean. We cleaned the boys up and they (and by they I mean Brinton) ate some cookies and ice cream and played some more. 
At the end of his one-hour party, Brinton opened the presents from his two friends. He loved both of them and has been playing with them today as well. He had such a fun time, he was sad when everyone left. I guess we will just have to have them over again for some non-birthday fun! I know it's not really about Zander, but he was sleeping the whole time Brint's friends were over. Just after the party, I was able to get a picture with both my boys in party hats :) Steve and I decided to have the grandparents come over that evening for cake and ice cream so Brinton could just play at his little party and then spend time with them later.

Ha ha, this is a really stupid post, but I am quite excited that I have organized my sock drawer. Steve and I actually put all of our socks in the same drawer and it has basically been so full that you have to push down the socks to close the drawer. Also, they were all mixed up. Finally, we put in the drawer dividers that I have had for probably a year (and got rid of the socks we don't wear). I may or may not have a little OCD about some things. You can decide that. While you are deciding, just try not to think about how it makes me so happy I thought I should share it with all of you. Yes, I know I'm pathetic!Friday, August 8, 2008
I can't believe that Zander is already two months old. The time has gone by so quickly. Here is a little update on him as of late:
HE SMILES!!! How cute is this little boy with the big grin? He has been smiling for about a week and I just can't get enough of it.
Last Sunday, August 3rd, Zander was blessed by his dad in our sacrament meeting. It was a really nice blessing and I think Steve did a great job. I am so glad I am not a boy and I didn't have to do that in front of everyone. We had a lot of family there and it was so nice to celebrate an important time in Zander's life. Afterward, we had a luncheon at my parents house where we all played games and talked. I felt like it was a great success. Thank you to everyone for your support and love.

Oh, and one more thing. I took Zander to his two month Dr. appointment on Wednesday of this week. He weighed in at 8 lbs 1 oz. Yes, I am aware that is the size of an average newborn. He is in the 0.8 percentile for his weight. Although he is tiny, he is healthy and doing great. I must say that I think his size is adorable. If he was not healthy, I think I would feel differently.

So tonight, I was at my parents house because Steve was working late. I decided to put Brinton down for bed there because it was his bedtime and I thought I would be there for a while longer. About a half hour after I put him to bed, I was upstairs playing a game on my Mom's computer. All the sudden, Brinton is upstairs. I had the baby monitor on and didn't hear anything. Usually, he will just cry or ask for me when he doesn't want to go to bed, but this time, he just came upstairs quietly. I asked him what he was doing and he raised his bent arms in the air, tilted his head to one side and said, "Ah done. Ah done a nye nye, mama." It was so cute that I couldn't be mad at him. Steve ended up getting off work a little earlier than expected, so we just got in the car and went home. I love his sentences. He is getting smarter and smarter each day.

On Wednesday of this week, it was time for the fun to continue with the Loren Bishop family reunion. This is the first year we started doing a reunion with my immediate family only. I must say that it was a lot of fun and should be a little bit longer next year (it went through Friday). We stayed at a home just outside Park City. Every individual family had their own room to stay in and there were two large family rooms where we could all gather. We spent a lot of time together talking and playing games. We brought Rock Band and Nintendo Wii so everyone was well entertained. We had a few planned activities that the kids loved.
One day, the girls got to make their own lip gloss. Each girl was able to pick their own flavor and color, so there was quite a variety (mine is that yellow one). While the girls did that, the boys made rockets that they launched in the front yard.
Another activity that everyone loved to do together was swimming. We found a pool in Park City that was just about ten minutes away. The pool was a lot of fun. There was a current in the pool that was surprisingly strong. It was a miniature lazy river, but it created a current that seriously made it hard to get from one end of the pool to the other if you were by the edges. I tried to swim back with Brinton in a floaty and couldn't do it. Steve couldn't either, so I'm not just a weakling :) I think a few of us had to get some help getting back, it was so funny.
One day, the kids colored popsicle sticks and glued them together in the shape of a horseshoe (or as close to it as they could). Then, they played horseshoes by trying to throw them around a bottle of juice. Brinton just wanted to drink his for the most part, then he ran around with Kate laughing constantly. We all had such a great time and I am excited for next year.

Later that night, we went to a 3D movie. Too bad I didn't get a picture of us all in our 3D glasses . . . they were hot. It was the first time I had ever been to one, and I thought it was really cool. All movies should be in 3D!
